I wanted to be a rapper because I thought singing is for the weak – Victony

Anthony Victor, also known as Victony, a Nigerian musician, has disclosed why he did not pursue a career as a singer despite being aware of his skill. He stated that he wanted to be a rapper because singing was an escape for “weak people.”

In 2020, the ‘Soweto’ singer declared he will switch from rapping to singing.

Victony stated in the most recent episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, “2020 was when I started doing Afrobeats.” ‘Soweto’ was one of my earliest attempts at Afrobeats. “I used to know I could sing, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.” Because I had the impression that it was only for the weak. It seemed like a retreat for the weak.

“I’ve always admired rapper energy and aspired to be one.” However, after I began singing, I realized that it is just as technical as rapping.”

The artist also talks about his journey and reflected on his accident and his industry friends. He advised that artists should watch what they say as it could rub off wrongly.

He talked about being real to yourself as that could mean longevity in the industry. Learn your craft well and ensure you stay on the right path because it is easy to stray. He went further to add that artist should push their market/music hard because thats all they have got
