“I am very disappointed”, Mikel Arteta fumes after loss to West Ham

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has shown his dissatisfaction following Arsenals’ elimination in the English Carabao Cup last night.

Arsenal were hammered by the Hammers with a full-time score of 3-1. Ben White’s own goal gave Westham the first half lead, Ghanian forward Mohammed Kudus made it 2-0 in the early minutes of the second half. Jarrod Bowen added a third with half an hour to go, but Martin Odegaard netted a consolation in the dying seconds.

During his post match interview, Mikel said that he took the responsibility for the performance.

“I’m very disappointed with the result and the performance, and I’m responsible for that,” he said. “I tried to warn them for 48 hours that today was about how you’re going to compete in these games, and in the Carabao Cup away from home, we haven’t done that well enough.

“Obviously, the game started pretty well for us, we had total control, but the goal changed a lot of things, and even though I didn’t think it was a goal, it’s not an excuse for the rest of the performance.”

Arsenal’s form in the league has been commendable, they will take on Newcastle on Saturday evening as the voyage for their first Premier League title since 2003-04 continues.
