Hunger Pushed Me Into Music –Segun Johnson Opens Up

Nigerian musician Segun Johnson, widely known for his vibrant and unique style of singing at events, has revealed that economic hardship led him into the music industry.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Teju BabyFace, Johnson opened up about his humble beginnings and how his career path unfolded. When asked whether music had always been his dream or if he discovered it later, Johnson candidly replied in Yoruba, “Ebi ni, hunger ni” — meaning hunger led him to it.

He added, “If you are in Nigeria, you don’t have a choice,” highlighting the economic pressures that influenced his decision.

Segun Johnson is best known for his popular hype songs, Sho Fine Gan and Sho Ma Nawo Yen Tan, which have made him a household name at events across the country.
