House of Reps Knock El-Rufai’s son for denying receiving SUV as a lawmaker

A secret letter from inside the Nigerian House of Representatives has brought out a big argument about Hon. Bello El-Rufai saying he didn’t get an official Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The letter, sent to members of the House, refutes El-Rufai’s words and says that every member actually got their car.

The letter got out to Press and came from the Deputy Spokesperson for the House, Hon. Philip Agbese.

It talks straight about what Hon. El-Rufai said in an interview on a podcast.

El-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency and leads the House Committee on Banking Regulations, apparently said he didn’t get the car and hinted that some other members also said no to the cars.

But the secret letter says El-Rufai’s words are wrong and that every member of the 10th House of Representatives got their car.

The letter also warns against spreading lies that could hurt the image of the parliament.

The letter says: “We noticed a video clip from an interview, where one of our respected colleagues, Hon. Bello El-Rufai, said some members, including himself, didn’t take the cars they were given.

“It’s important to say that this is completely wrong. After checking with the House Committee on House Services, every member of the 10th House of Representatives got their car.

“So, we ask Hon. El-Rufai to stop spreading lies or trying to make his colleagues look bad.

“As a House, we’re told not to make big statements or make things worse for the parliament.

“So, we need to be careful in public talk, especially now that the 10th House of Representatives is earning the trust of Nigerians.

“We want to make it clear that all Honourable Members got their cars. These cars are owned by the House of Representatives and are meant to help Honourable Members do their jobs.

“We also want to remind all Honourable Members that while they can talk to the media and the public, it’s best for the House and all members to avoid causing problems and talking about controversial things.”
