Hon. Segelu condoles with Akinyele PDP over leader’s death

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of YSEG Hotels and Suites, Ibadan, Hon. Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu, has condoled with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, over the death of a prominent leader of the party, Hon. Akeeb Abass.

Segelu, a chieftain of the PDP currently based in Germany, in a statement, described the late Hon. Abass as a great leader and peacemaker who played politics devoid of bitterness and contributed immensely to the advancement of Akinyele LGA.

The statement reads: “I was completely shocked to hear the sad news of the passing away of one of the distinguished leaders in Akinyele Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Akeeb Abass. It is indeed painful that death came to snatch away our highly respected father and elder who can be said to have played a key role in the promotion and sustenance of peace and unity in Akinyele LGA. The late Hon. Abass, a leader par excellence, was a very gentle, straightforward and honest man. I could still vividly remember my meeting with him in 2013 at the residence of Late Chief Kolapo Ishola at the Elders Forum when I was seeking to represent Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency. He clearly showed sincerity towards my aspiration then as one of the reliable and trusted leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Constituency.

“Thereafter, we kept in touch and constantly exchanged messages and calls via Facebook and WhatsApp. I am deeply pained that one of the leaders I so much counted on and had invariably enjoyed his wise counsel has gone the way of all flesh. Death has taken him away from us.

“Well, what can we do? Can we question or fight God? No!

“As our Creator, He giveth and He taketh as it pleases Him. We love you, Hon. Abass, but the Almighty and Ever Living God loves you more.

“I commiserate with the entire family, friends and PDP leaders in Akinyele on the demise of this great man of wisdom and valour. May we all be granted the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss!

“I plead with the children of the deceased to see me as one of them and always count on my support.

“Elder Abass, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of our Heavenly Father. Amen. Adieu!”
