Hisbah Intercept Vehicle with Over 24,000 Bottles of Beer in Kano State

The Kano State Hisbah Board, an Islamic enforcement agency in Nigeria, recently intercepted a vehicle loaded with over 24,000 bottles of beer.

The seizure took place on BUK Road, near the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies in Kano State.

This significant operation highlights the board’s ongoing efforts to uphold Islamic laws within the state.

The Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujaheed Aminudden, addressed the media regarding the incident, on Tuesday evening.

He explained that the truck, loaded with a large quantity of beer, was intercepted by Hisbah operatives on Monday afternoon.

According to Dr. Mujaheed, the truck was seized due to its violation of Kano State laws, which strictly prohibit the sale and consumption of alcohol and other intoxicants.

The Hisbah Board operates under Sharia law, which is enforced in Kano, a predominantly Muslim state in northern Nigeria.

Dr. Mujaheed emphasized that the board is dedicated to maintaining Islamic principles and moral standards within the state.

As part of this effort, the board has increased its campaigns and advocacy programs to educate the public on the dangers of engaging in activities deemed immoral under Islamic law, including the consumption of alcohol.

Dr. Mujaheed also expressed gratitude to the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) for their cooperation in the operation. The KAROTA personnel played a key role in halting the truck before it could reach its destination within the city.

The driver, upon realizing that the vehicle was about to be seized, abandoned the truck, leaving it in the custody of the Hisbah Board. The truck was later towed to the board’s headquarters for further investigation.

In his statement, Dr. Mujaheed urged Kano residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles that might be transporting prohibited items such as alcohol.

He reassured the public that the Hisbah Board is committed to intensifying its efforts to prevent the smuggling of beer and other intoxicants into the state.

The incident underscores the strict enforcement of Islamic law in Kano and reflects the Hisbah Board’s determination to curtail activities that contradict the moral and religious codes of the state.
