Nigeria’s popular chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has announced her plan to set another historic record by cooking 250 bags of rice at once.
The young chef, who rose to global fame after winning the record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, is now preparing for a new challenge that has already captured the attention of Nigerians and the international community.
In a video she shared on Instagram obtained by The News Chronicle on Monday, Baci explained the magnitude of her upcoming feat.
She revealed that she had specially designed a giant cooking pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres. According to her, the aim is to fill the massive pot to at least 80 percent of its capacity with delicious jollof rice, one of West Africa’s most loved dishes.
Baci disclosed that the project will require 250 bags of rice, in addition to other ingredients such as tomatoes, peppers, seasonings, and proteins, which will be sourced in huge quantities to match the scale of the attempt.
She added that the challenge is not just about breaking another record but also about celebrating Nigerian cuisine and showcasing the richness of the country’s culinary culture to the world.
Her announcement has sparked excitement among fans, food lovers, and record enthusiasts, many of whom are already looking forward to the event. Social media reactions show that Nigerians are particularly proud of her ambition, as jollof rice remains a cultural symbol and a point of pride in West Africa.
