Henry Nwosu, Former Super Eagles Midfielder, Dies at 62

Former Super Eagles midfielder Henry Nwosu has passed away at the age of 62, after five days in intensive care at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja. His death was announced by former teammate and 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winner Segun Odegbami, who described Nwosu as the “Youngest Millionaire.”
Nwosu, born in Imo State, was the youngest member of Nigeria’s 1980 AFCON-winning squad, celebrated for his vision, creativity, and technical ability. After retiring from active football, he continued contributing to the sport as a coach and mentor for younger players.
His death comes just days after the passing of former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde, who died on March 9 at age 88. Both were key figures in Nigeria’s football history during the 1980s
