Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has accused the 2027 Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of fabricating claims about a recent airport incident for political gain.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today monitored by The News Chronicle, Keyamo dismissed Obi’s account of being harassed by airport officials because of his opposition status, insisting the former Anambra governor deliberately misrepresented the incident.
“That man was lying. He lies like a fish drinking water. He lies. He lies for fun,” Keyamo declared during the interview.
The Aviation Minister said Obi’s public allegations unfairly portrayed airport personnel in a bad light without giving the authorities an opportunity to verify the claims or investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to Keyamo, Obi had alleged that he was subjected to harassment at the airport solely because he belongs to the opposition. However, the minister maintained that such accusations were unsubstantiated and should not have been made without allowing the relevant agencies to establish the facts.
