Gunmen posing as women kill two inspectors at checkpoints

A group of gunmen, disguising themselves as women, undertook a malicious act by directing their aggression towards a police checkpoint situated on the Jibia-Batsari road in Katsina. 

This unfortunate incident led to the grievous loss of two inspectors in the village of Gurbin Magarya.

The assailants, posing as women, engaged in an attack at the mentioned location, culminating in the tragic demise of the two law enforcement officers who were on duty at the time.

The event unfolded in Gurbin Magarya village, highlighting the severity and sorrowful consequences of the targeted assault on the police checkpoint along the Jibia-Batsari road in Katsina.

Suspected to be bandits, the assailants made off with the officers’ rifles, leaving the operational vehicle and teargas behind at the scene.

A reliable security source verified the incident, stating that the attack occurred on Thursday.

The victims, identified as members of the police Joint Border Patrol, had their bodies transported to Katsina General Hospital.

In a related occurrence, a group of gunmen struck the Gangara community in Jibia Local Government Area early on Friday. This assault resulted in the loss of four lives, with six others sustaining injuries.

 

A resident, confirming the attack over the phone, disclosed that the assailants also abducted an unspecified number of residents, predominantly women and children.

 

Despite an attempt to seek confirmation from the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, there was no response at the time of filing this report.

 

However, he assured some members of the press that an investigation would be conducted, and feedback provided.
