Gunmen Kidnap Former PDP Ward Chairman in Kwara

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a trader and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Sabi Sise, in Boriya–Shiya Ward, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to reports obtained by The News Chronicle, the attackers invaded Alhaji Sise’s home in Boriya community in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident happened around midnight when the kidnappers stormed the compound and shot repeatedly into the air to scare residents.

Sources said one of Alhaji Sise’s sons met the gunmen as he was returning home late that night. The gunmen forced him to call his father and open the door for them. After gaining entry, they took only Alhaji Sise and left the rest of the family unharmed.

In the morning, residents found empty bullet shells and a few live rounds scattered in the compound, confirming that several gunshots were fired.

Witnesses described the attack as brief but terrifying, lasting only a few minutes before the kidnappers escaped.

The local vigilante group in Boriya immediately launched a search for the gunmen to rescue the victim.

This is the second kidnapping incident in the area in two months. On September 17, another businessman was abducted from his home in nearby Shiya community.
