Gunmen Attack NSCDC Headquarters in Nasarawa State

In the early hours of Monday 17 June, 2024, a large group of suspected terrorists attacked the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State.
Jerry Victor, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack and provided details of the incident to Newsmen in Lafiya.
According to Victor, the terrorists arrived equipped with sophisticated weapons and engaged in a gun battle with the operatives of the Command.
The attackers attempted to breach the perimeter by breaking parts of the fence to gain entry into the offices. Meanwhile, some of the assailants took strategic positions around the building.
Victor explained that the NSCDC operatives responded swiftly to the attack by opening fire on the gunmen.
The assailants’ mission appeared to be the release of several high-profile suspected criminals, including informants for kidnappers, who were in the custody of the Command. Despite the severity of the attack, Victor noted that no casualties were reported.
The NSCDC operatives successfully repelled the attackers, ensuring that the security of the Command’s headquarters was maintained.
