They took 23 people, including a man named Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, a former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area. The kidnapping happened early on Thursday.

Kawu Community is close to Kaduna and Niger states. The gunmen came from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State.

Deputy Speaker Abdulmumini Zakari said the gunmen split into different groups. Some went to the District Head’s palace and took his son, Lukman, and his wife. Others went to Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu’s place.

They took him, his four children, Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, his two wives, and some children.
