Governor Zulum orders construction of mega school in Marte L.G

—

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has given the green light for the establishment of a new large Islamic College in New Marte, a community situated in Marte Local Government Area.

This directive was issued during the governor’s visit to the town along the shores of Lake Chad Basin on Sunday.

Governor Zulum has been actively involved in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of educational facilities since 2019, having overseen the construction of more than 34 mega primary and secondary schools, with numerous classrooms being either reconstructed or rehabilitated, all of which were previously damaged by Boko Haram insurgents.

During his visit to Marte, Governor Zulum assessed the extent of destruction caused by Boko Haram in the communities of Ala, Garade, and Kaje, with the aim of initiating reconstruction efforts to facilitate the return of the displaced population.

Meetings with military commanders in Marte were held to discuss the modalities for the resettlement of people in these three communities.

Throughout his visit, Governor Zulum engaged in regular meetings with various stakeholders, including military commanders, volunteers, council chairmen, traditional leaders, and community representatives.

These discussions focused on reviewing the security situation and implementing necessary measures to enhance security where required.

Addressing the people in Ala town, the governor assured that the state government would provide logistical and financial support to enable individuals to rebuild their houses.

Additionally, Governor Zulum reiterated the government’s commitment to revitalizing the South Chad irrigation scheme, which encompasses parts of Marte, Kukawa, and Ngala local government areas.

While commending the sacrifices made by the military, Governor Zulum urged them to continue their efforts to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their ancestral homelands.

This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s dedication to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by the affected communities.
