The announcement of Dauda Iliya’s appointment was made public on Friday through a statement issued by Abdurrahman Ahmed, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor.

Dauda Iliya, a highly regarded journalist, is currently the chairman of the Borno State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in the southern part of Borno State. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maiduguri, where he later pursued and completed his Master’s degree (MSc) in Mass Communications in 2024.

Over the years, Iliya has attended several professional development courses and trainings, further enriching his knowledge and expertise in the media industry.

Throughout his career, Iliya has been actively involved in various professional organizations.

He is a member of the Nigerian Union of Journalists as well as the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters. His involvement in these bodies has solidified his standing as a respected figure in Nigeria’s journalism community.

Before this appointment, Dauda Iliya served as a journalist for the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), where he was responsible for covering news and events in Borno State.

His extensive experience in media reporting and his leadership role in the NUJ are expected to bring valuable insight to his new position.

In the statement, Governor Zulum expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Dauda Iliya on his appointment.

He further encouraged the new spokesperson to use his wealth of experience and knowledge to serve the people of Borno State effectively.

The governor emphasized the importance of media relations in his administration and expressed confidence that Iliya would excel in the role.

With this appointment, Iliya steps into a significant position within Governor Zulum’s administration, playing a key role in shaping and managing the governor’s communications with the public.
