Governor Sani pledges to repatriate Southern Kaduna IDPs

The Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, said he’s working with the military and other security agencies to help people who had to leave their homes in the Southern part of Kaduna State go back to where they’re from.

Many people had to leave their homes because of fighting and violence, especially during the time when Nasir El-Rufai was the governor. But not much was done to help them return home.

Governor Sani talked about this on a TV show in Kaduna. He said he feels sorry about the recent attacks by bandits in some areas of the state, but he mentioned that things have been relatively calm since he took over a few months ago.

He talked about different things his government is doing to bring peace and security to the state.

He mentioned working with the people, improving local security, and helping the regular security forces.

He also said they’re working with neighboring states like Niger and Katsina to make sure everyone is safe along the borders.

The governor believes that solving the security problem isn’t just about using force. He thinks it’s important to also focus on improving the lives of people in rural areas.

He explained that many of the kidnappings happen because people in these areas don’t have enough opportunities. So, he wants to make sure they have good schools, hospitals, and jobs.

He talked about his plans to develop rural areas by building things like skill centers and roads.

“we did groundbreaking of about 16 roads in rural and urban settings totaling over 500 kilometres since I became Governor in May 2023. To me, it is a major effort towards linking our rural local governments to our urban counterparts.

“So we are addressing development deficit among these local governments and that is one of the sure ways of building the economy of rural areas thereby naturally addressing the issue of banditry and other social vices”, he added.

He believes this will help improve the economy and make life better for people living there. And by doing this, he hopes to reduce things like banditry and other crimes.
