Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has firmly denied the circulating rumors suggesting that his government established an office for his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
These rumors, which emerged on Monday, raised concerns among Nigerians questioning the legitimacy and reasoning behind such an unconstitutional move.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Olajide John Nihi, dismissed these rumors as “absurd” and attributed them to the actions of mischievous individuals.
He emphasized that the notion of creating an “Office of Immediate Past Governor” within the Government House is baseless.
Nihi went on to state that only a failed student repeats a class, and given Yahaya Bello’s commendable eight-year tenure as Kogi governor, he deserves recognition and promotion, not a symbolic past role.
Nihi clarified that the idea of establishing such an office contradicts the principles of progress and forward-thinking leadership.
He highlighted Yahaya Bello’s track record in Kogi State as evidence of his commitment to development and argued that creating unnecessary positions like the proposed office goes against encouraging leaders to contribute to the nation’s growth on a broader scale.
Furthermore, Nihi emphasized that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has no intentions of creating the alleged “Office of Immediate Past Governor.” He denounced the misinformation as the work of mischief makers aiming to sow discord and mislead the public.
Nihi urged the public to exercise discernment and not fall prey to obvious lies that only serve to create confusion and undermine the credibility of responsible governance.
The Chief Press Secretary stressed the importance of focusing on encouraging leaders like Yahaya Bello to contribute positively to the nation’s development instead of concocting unnecessary positions that hinder their potential contributions.
