Governor Inuwa is considering moving from Gombe United to Doma FC

Governor Inuwa is considering moving from Gombe United to Doma FC due the team’s underwhelming performance

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has expressed disappointment in the ongoing poor performance of Gombe United FC, a football club owned by the state government, in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

He voiced his concerns during a quarterly media chat with local radio stations in Gombe.

The governor accused the management of Gombe United FC of misappropriating funds without achieving corresponding success on the field.

Despite consistently allocating twelve million naira to the club each month, Governor Yahaya lamented that the team fell short of expectations.

During the media chat, the governor went on to compare Gombe United FC to Doma United FC, a privately owned club.

He highlighted the contrast, noting that Doma United, managed by a single individual without government financial support, was performing admirably in the same league category.

Governor Yahaya expressed frustration, stating that certain individuals associated with Gombe United seemed to be benefiting without delivering the expected results.

Governor Yahaya emphasized that the monthly allocation of twelve million naira should be sufficient to effectively run the club.

However, he threatened to withdraw government support for Gombe United FC and redirect it towards Doma United FC if the necessary improvements were not implemented.

As of the latest standings, Gombe United FC holds the 14th position on the NPFL table with 19 points from 16 matches.

In contrast, Doma United FC sits at the 3rd position with 29 points from the same number of matches.

The governor’s frustration underscores the urgency for Gombe United to address its performance issues and utilize the allocated funds more effectively.
