Governor Buni Visits Nigerian Refugees in Chad, Pledges Continued Support

Yobe State Governor and Chairman of the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has visited Nigerian refugees at the Kaya refugee camp in Lac Province, Republic of Chad, to assess their living conditions.

During the visit, Buni commended the peaceful coexistence and cordial relationship between the Nigerian refugees, their host communities and the Chadian government.

He urged the refugees to respect the laws of Chad, refrain from criminal activities and report any suspicious individuals or movements to the appropriate authorities.

The governor assured them that the Nigerian government would continue to work with the Chadian authorities to ensure their welfare and protection.

He also said Nigerians willing to return home could register so that arrangements could be made for their safe return to their respective states.

The leader of the refugees, Ba Bulama Usman, thanked Governor Buni for the visit, describing it as the first time a Nigerian government official had visited them.
