Governor Buni contributes N100 million to support victims of market fire

Governor Mai Mala Buni visited the site of a devastating fire to express condolences to the victims.

In a statement from the governor’s Director General of Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, Buni expressed deep sorrow over the significant loss suffered by both individuals and the state.

Governor Buni lamented the unfortunate timing of the disaster, occurring just as young entrepreneurs were striving to establish their businesses.

He reassured the affected individuals that the government would actively support them in recovering their businesses, aiming to create more job opportunities for the youth.

To implement immediate aid, the governor instructed the Secretary to the State Government to allocate shops to the victims at the recently constructed Ibrahim Gaidam Modern Market in Damaturu.

Additionally, the state Ministry of Housing received a directive to assess the extent of the damage, with plans to reconstruct the affected structures for their rightful owners.

Emphasizing the need for preventive measures, Governor Buni urged citizens to stay vigilant and take proactive steps to avoid potential causes of fire disasters in both their homes and businesses.

This call for caution serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to safeguard against such unfortunate incidents.

The tragic incident involved the destruction of thirty-three shops, impacting 157 shop owners and their dependents at the Damaturu GSM market.

The governor’s swift response and commitment to recovery underscore the government’s dedication to supporting its citizens during challenging times.
