On the day Tuesday, Governor Hyacinth Alia, who holds the esteemed position of the leader of Benue State, commenced the implementation of a benevolent act.

This act involved the initiation of the dispersal of not just a few, but a total of 56 trucks laden with crucial and indispensable provisions, all directed towards the esteemed residents of Benue.

This effort aimed to alleviate the impact of the removal of petrol subsidies. The distribution, marked by a ceremony in Makurdi, encompassed the third phase of a comprehensive palliative program designed to benefit all Benue residents.

Governor Alia highlighted that the initial phase involved distributing subsidized fertilizers, while the second phase included procuring and handing over 100 Toyota Hiace buses to the Benue Links Transport Company.

As part of the current phase, a total of 21 trucks loaded with maize and 35 trucks carrying rice would be distributed across the state.

The governor emphasized that the distribution would extend to various groups, including civil servants, primary and secondary school teachers, traditional rulers, political leaders, political parties, unions, associations, and other residents.

This extensive initiative aimed to cover the 276 local council wards in the state.

Governor Alia specified that the palliatives would encompass support for the registration fees of NECO and WAEC examinations for all government-approved secondary schools in the state.

He reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of both workers and the general populace.

Commending President Bola Tinubu for the provided palliatives, Governor Alia assured that the benefits would reach all the intended recipients.

Mr. Omale Omale, serving as the State Chairman of the Committee for Distributing Palliatives and also holding the position of Commissioner for Power and Transport, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Government for their support.

He provided assurances that the distribution process would be conducted fairly, ensuring that it reaches all those who are in need.
