Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has assured that the state’s permanent National Youth Service Corps orientation camp will be ready to receive the next batch of corps members.
Fintiri gave the assurance on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch B, Stream II corps members held at the temporary orientation camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Edgar Amos, the governor said construction of the permanent orientation camp had reached an advanced stage and expressed confidence that future batches would undertake their orientation exercises at the new facility.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, stating that the state would continue to pay the N30,000 monthly allowance to those serving in Adamawa.
According to him, the government remains committed to supporting the NYSC scheme in recognition of the contributions corps members make to key sectors, including education, healthcare and agriculture.
Fintiri urged the corps members to be law-abiding, respect the culture and traditions of their host communities, and promote peaceful coexistence throughout their service year.
He also encouraged them to leave lasting impacts through meaningful community development projects.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the Adamawa NYSC Governing Board, Mr Wali Yakubu, congratulated the corps members on their successful mobilisation.

Yakubu urged them to participate actively in all camp activities and embrace Nigeria’s cultural diversity by building friendships across ethnic and religious lines.
He further encouraged them to initiate projects that would improve the living conditions of residents in their host communities, assuring them of the state government’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive environment throughout their service year.
Earlier, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Caroline Chinedu, disclosed that 1,520 corps members had registered for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation exercise.
She said the registered corps members comprised 779 males and 741 females, noting that they had displayed discipline, enthusiasm and commitment since the commencement of the orientation programme.
Chinedu, however, appealed to the state government to urgently address the electricity challenges at the orientation camp, noting that dependence on generators had negatively affected water supply, sanitation and other essential services.
The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by Justice Abbas Adamu, who represented the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.
The ceremony officially marked the commencement of the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation course in Adamawa State.
