Good Leadership, Patriotism and Selflessness

Good Leadership, Patriotism and Selflessness — Why Supreme Court Castrated Democracy and Canadian Court Called APC/PDP Terrorists — And Why Osun Proves No Remorse

With utmost respect and sincerity, no ill will intended — I speak only to illuminate the damage we have inflicted upon ourselves, perhaps unwittingly._

That is the spirit of my earlier article on Opinion Nigeria — “Good Leadership, Patriotism and Selflessness.” As I wrote there, citing Chinua Achebe, the trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely failure of leadership — a crop of leaders who lack patriotism and selflessness. Bribery, corruption, nepotism, ethnic jingoism, social injustice, soaring inflation, youth unemployment, kidnapping, ritual killings.

Today I continue that reflection with Prof Adekunle Oloyede’s Greek framework — idiot, tribalist, citizen — and with two court judgments that define our predicament.

The Damage: Supreme Court Rendered Votes Useless_

The fact of the matter is that cumulative decisions of the Supreme Court in successive election petitions, particularly presidential election petitions, have rendered the votes of Nigerians useless and castrated democracy.

The Supreme Court has legitimized suppression of political will of Nigerians with cooked-up results to the extent that Wike is boasting of power to determine election outcomes at will and Tinubu feels personal campaign for votes is not worth his time and energy.

If vote does not count because court will validate cooked result, why be Greek citizen (polites) who builds tangible things all comfortable with? Why not be Greek idiot (idiotes) — “I am okay, my generator is working, Japa is my plan” — or Greek tribalist (phyletes) — “tribe as race weapon, Sego GLE 350 NURTW 001 is our boy, go back if you look Igbo in Lagos 2023”?

Supreme Court castration produced idiots and tribalists. Not citizens. That is damage we inflicted upon ourselves, perhaps unwittingly.

The Validation: Canadian Federal High Court Verdict_

On June 17, 2025, Justice Phuong Ngo of Federal Court of Canada upheld Immigration Appeal Division ruling that declared Nigeria’s two dominant parties — APC and PDP — terrorist organisations under Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). Case of Douglas Egharevba, who joined PDP at founding in 1999, left in 2007 for APC, stayed till 2017, then disclosed history in Canada 2017.

Canada’s Minister of Public Safety argued APC and PDP deeply implicated in acts of political violence, subversion of democracy, electoral bloodshed, inflicting harm and terror on Nigerians. Justice Ngo wrote: “The conduct of individuals who are members of PDP, including high-ranking officials, and those who committed political violence and intimidation on their behalf, is too widespread and persistent over too great a period of time to dissociate the leadership of party from their actions.”

Central to ruling was PDP conduct during 2003 general elections and 2004 local government polls — ballot box snatching, killings of opponents, systematic voter intimidation. IAD found leadership benefited from violence and took no action to stop it — meeting legal definition of subversion under paragraph 34(1)(b.1) and terrorism under paragraph 34(1)(f) — “mere membership… could trigger inadmissibility — even without proof of personal involvement.”

This is not Sahara Reporters writing. This is Federal Court of Canada — a NATO country, Commonwealth country — calling our ruling parties terrorists. Same parties whose violence Supreme Court legitimized by validating cooked results.

Prof Oloyede said breaking hardest shell — how happy are we with our union? — solves 80% angst. Canadian court says: We are not happy because parties that should aggregate interests practice terrorism — intimidation of public for political objective. Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 Section 1(3) in Nigeria also defines intimidation for political purpose as terrorism. Sego GLE 350 = intimidation on wheels = terrorism. Senate passed Electoral Offences Commission July 2021 to prosecute such, House killed it. Why? Because gladiators benefit from hard shell.

No Remorse: Osun Proves Tendency Increased Exponentially_

I have a strong feeling that we need to unpack Canadian federal high court judgment on terrorism. Because even after verdict, there was no remorse. Instead such tendencies increased exponentially.

During recent Osun State governor’s election August 2026, more than 70 citizens murdered according to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s petition. Sitting senator Francis Fadahunsi — representing Osun East, former Deputy Comptroller-General Customs, Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Customs, defected from PDP to APC 2025 — openly on camera displayed call for assassins.

In viral video at APC campaign rally in Ilesa, translated by Davido and confirmed by police, Senator Fadahunsi allegedly said: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too. This is a Federal Government election. On election day, even if they come with voter cards, we won’t allow them to vote.”

Another APC chieftain Eniade in Odo-Otin LGA: “Anyone who is not APC member should not come out on election day… Accord Party can’t vote in Odo-Otin. I am the one who said so.”

Police summoned Fadahunsi August 11, 2026, via Commissioner Police Elections Samuel Etaifo Erale. He was grilled August 13 at Osun CID Osogbo. National Human Rights Commission — Executive Secretary Tony Ojukwu SAN — demanded immediate suspension, arrest, prosecution: “This is not politics. This is licence to kill.” Amnesty International, Accord, PDP condemned. Governor Adeleke demanded arrest, reported to IGP Olatunji Disu and NSA. Debo Adeyanju wrote UK, US for visa ban.

Fadahunsi’s defense: Video edited, Yoruba misinterpreted, “kill them with our votes” not physically. That defense deserves testing, not acceptance — as ThisDay wrote. Words by ordinary campaigner carry weight. Words by sitting senator carry more.

But point is: After Canadian court called APC/PDP terrorists for 2003/2004/2015/2023 ballot snatching, killings, voter intimidation — in 2026 Osun, sitting senator calls for killing Accord members and their families, preventing voting. No remorse. Exponential increase. Supreme Court castration enabled it — if votes useless, why not boast power to determine outcomes at will like Wike? Why campaign like Tinubu?

Good Leadership, Patriotism, Selflessness — As Antidote_

My Opinion Nigeria article in 2022 said good leadership is ability to influence others towards shared goal. Patriotism is love, devotion, attachment to country. Selflessness squashes ego, not acting out of pride. Good leaders have vision, courage, integrity, humility, strategic planning, focus, team player — like Mandela, like Awolowo, Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello who sacrificed.

We need such leadership to break hardest shell. Prof says hardest shell is how happy we are with union. Marriage analogy — things not going well but we ignore fact. Solve 80% angst if we address truthfully, openly, squarely — then see brown skin wrapping white succulent layer — UNITED, DETERMINED, PURPOSEFUL AND RESOURCEFUL population that can create desires.

Different thinking: Supreme Court must reverse castration — make votes count, enforce BVAS/IReV photograph upload, publish results same day via Sahara Reporters New York — founded 2006 Manhattan small room by Omoyele Sowore with grants, no government money. New terrain — terrain determines tactics — Sun Tzu. Old terrain newspaper begged, Sego blocked road. New terrain citizen journalism, mic don comot for their hand.

Uncommon actions: Apply Terrorism Act — Osun call to kill Accord members and families, prevent voting = terrorism = disqualification, prosecution, not celebration. Demand Electoral Offences Commission now as non-negotiable for 2027. Form groups to defend votes of everybody as Falana said — be Greek citizen (polites), not idiot, not tribalist.

Use 5Cs hammer — Conscience to know damage we inflicted upon ourselves perhaps unwittingly, Character to refuse N5k vote selling, Capacity to build new national model — my book _NIGERIA NEEDS NEW NATIONAL MODEL_ (426 pages, nearly 100 pages on Fourth Industrial Revolution) — Competence to know intimidation is crime, Courage to stand at polling unit and say I will vote and my vote will count, and if senator calls for assassin, report to police, NHRC, Amnesty, UK/US visa ban.

With utmost respect, I have spoken only to illuminate damage we inflicted upon ourselves. Supreme Court rendered votes useless. Canadian court called APC/PDP terrorists. Osun proves no remorse, tendency increased. Until we break hardest shell — are we happy with our union? — we remain Greek idiots, Greek tribalists, never Greek citizens that build tangible prize all comfortable with.

Delicious prize inside coconut is Nigeria that works — election of ideas not Agberos, school with roof and computer in Taraba, vote that counts even if you look Igbo in Lagos. Prize will not reveal itself. We must break shell, even if those who built shell are our friends, tribesmen, benefactors.
