The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna, recently inaugurated newly renovated soldiers’ quarters at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

The ceremony, held on Saturday, highlighted the Army’s commitment to improving the living conditions of its personnel.

During the event, Brigadier General Haruna emphasized that the upgraded facilities are intended to provide a comfortable and supportive living environment for military personnel, which in turn enhances their overall well-being and productivity.

The renovation project involved transforming three blocks of 30 quarters for families, corporals, and lower-ranking soldiers.

These improvements included upgrading amenities, living standards, electrical and water supply systems, and other essential infrastructure.

In his address, Brigadier General Haruna underscored the significance of a conducive living environment for soldiers, stating, “The welfare of our troops is paramount to our operational success.”

These renovated quarters demonstrate the Chief of Army Staff’s commitment to supporting the well-being and sacrifices of troops in protecting national integrity.”

The ceremony was well-attended, with senior military officers, dignitaries, and troops from the 7 Division present.

Brigadier General Haruna took the opportunity to inspect the renovated facilities, interacting with soldiers and acknowledging their contributions to national security.

This development underscores the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the welfare and well-being of its personnel.

Recognizing that a comfortable and supportive living environment is crucial for maintaining morale, productivity, and overall effectiveness, the GOC noted that the renovation was carried out under the vision of the Chief of Army Staff.

This vision aims to address and alleviate the accommodation challenges faced by troops in Nigerian Army barracks across the country.”
