Fuel Drops, Markets Calm, Fares Stubborn — But Nigeria Is Winning Silently

Nigeria na Nigeria abeg — strong in mind, firm in principle, and resilient in spirit. While headlines scream about insecurity and hardship, the reality on the ground tells a very different story. Over the last three weeks, I travelled Abuja to Kogi — Lokoja, Ajaokuta, Itobe, Ida, Ajaka, and Ugwulowo — between 1pm and 11pm. Roads were alive with cars, buses, and trucks moving confidently. Even at 9pm in Lokoja heading back to Abuja, traffic was heavy and orderly.
If kidnapping were truly rampant, these roads would be deserted. But Nigerians are moving, trading, living. This is proof: our security agencies are doing their jobs, quietly restoring confidence and keeping highways safe. Kudos to them.
On the economic front, President Ahmed Tinubu and his team have delivered a second Christmas without fuel scarcity or panic queues. Markets are calm. Prices are easing: beans now ₦800 per perfect measure (mudu), rice down from ₦100,000–₦110,000 to ₦55,000–₦60,000, and fuel stabilised at ₦739 per litre at MRS, Asokoro, thanks in part to Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
To those asking, “No be the same man increase prices before?” — yes, tough decisions were taken, but leadership is about correcting distortions and delivering stability. Pain followed by results is reform in action.
Now, a bit of humor: commercial drivers and NURTW, abeg, fuel has dropped, food prices are easing, so why is transport fare still standing like Mount Zion? Nigerians are watching ooo — adjust small!
Nigeria is not perfect, but it is far from helpless. Progress is happening quietly, yet it is real. Let’s celebrate our security agencies, economic managers, and the unbreakable Nigerian spirit — while continuing to demand even more.
