Former President Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR) has inaugurated the newly completed grade interchange flyover and underpass at the former Police roundabout in Jimeta, Yola North, Adamawa State on Wednesday.
Obasanjo praised the project, calling it an extraordinary bridge that will serve as the Adamawa Unity Center.
The infrastructure includes an underpass linking Galadima Amino Way to Justice Buba Ardu Road, a roundabout that distributes traffic to five roads, and a flyover that connects to Atiku Abubakar Way.
Expressing his gratitude to the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Obasanjo referred to the project as a monumental achievement since the creation of Adamawa State.
“My stay here in Yola for over three years had a significant impact on my life, and I must say that my time in Yola made my performance as an elected president of Nigeria better than it could have been,” Obasanjo remarked.
He commended the Governor for his excellent work and encouraged him to continue his efforts despite any opposition.
Obasanjo also praised the contributions of the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar
The former President stressed the importance of extending the vision of urban renewal and development to rural areas, which he believes will help address security issues and enable rural communities to return to their normal lives, particularly in food production.
In his speech, Governor Fintiri shared his commitment to transforming Adamawa State. He expressed his gratitude to God for the successful completion of the flyover and underpass, stating that the state is now one of the fastest-developing in terms of project delivery.
Mr. Elia, Managing Director of Triacta Nigeria Limited, thanked the Governor for trusting the company with the project.
He assured that Triacta would continue to contribute to the development of Adamawa State and Nigeria, as they have done for the past three decades.
