Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has announced his ordination as a pastor in his hometown, Maceio, where he co-founded the Manah Church three years ago.
The Brazilian footballer shared the news on his social media accounts alongside his wife, Larissa. The dedication ceremony took place last Sunday, June 30th in Maceio, Brazil.
In a heartfelt message, Firmino wrote:
“This church was BORN in the heart of God and we are extremely grateful for the privilege of witnessing up close all that the Lord has done.”
The Bible says in Ephesians 3:20
“Now to him who is able to do infinitely more than all that we ask or think, according to his power that works within us,”
It’s all about his power since in us there is no merit.
It has never been our goal to open a church or hold a ministry office, God knows that very well, he added.
Since our encounter with Christ, a longing burns in our hearts… Let people know this love that has reached us. Now we have another craving and responsibility… Be Pastors after God’s heart and who cooperate with the Kingdom.
Today we are totally flabbergasted when we see the size of God’s mercy upon us. He really picks the unlikely! Thank You Jesus…”
He also expressed gratitude to his pastors Jairo and Keila for their belief and encouragement in his spiritual journey.
Firmino played with Liverpool from 2015 to 2023, during which he secured seven major titles, including the 2019/20 Premier League and the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League. He continued his football career with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, where he played 34 matches last season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
