First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has officially flagged off the National Community Food Bank program in Anambra State to tackle child malnutrition across the South East, successfully concluding the nationwide rollout of the intervention across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Speaking to a gathering at Alex Ekwueme Square during her first official visit to the state, the First Lady emphasized that political leanings must be set aside to address the pressing needs of citizens.
She described the completion of the zonal rollouts as a significant milestone, noting that the initiative should spark renewed multi level interest in child nutrition nationwide.
She also commended Anambra State Governor Professor Charles Soludo and his wife for policies reflecting a progressive ideological outlook.
During the visit, Senator Tinubu also inaugurated a new RHI TETFUND ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, reinforcing the Renewed Hope Initiative’s priority of expanding digital learning frontiers.
Interacting with students, she encouraged them to leverage technology constructively, particularly artificial intelligence, and to join environmental societies to help solve ecological challenges.
In addition to the food bank initiative, the First Lady participated in the distribution of state provided empowerment items to 5,000 beneficiaries, supplementing the effort with a personal financial grant of 100,000 Naira for each recipient.
Governor Soludo lauded the partnership between the federal and state governments as a progressive framework designed to ensure no citizen is left behind.
The visit concluded with the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka, conferring the traditional title of Ugoeze of Anambra upon the First Lady in recognition of her contributions to national development and her support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
