Abia Attracts N1.24 Trillion Private Investment Approvals Under Alex Otti

—

Abia State has secured approvals for about N1.24 trillion in private capital investments as Governor Alex Otti’s administration seeks to expand infrastructure and economic activity beyond government funding.

The approved investment pipeline includes N914 billion in joint ventures and another N327 billion through design, build, operate and transfer concessions.

Otti disclosed this at the Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce Meet the Governor Series in Lagos, where he outlined plans to position Abia as a stronger destination for long term investment.

The governor said the state’s N1.01 trillion 2026 budget commits 80 percent to capital expenditure, while private and external funding is being directed towards infrastructure and other growth projects.

He stressed that investors are more attracted to predictable policies, security, reliable infrastructure and effective institutions than expensive promotional campaigns.

“We took on long abandoned roads in our important business hubs and fixed them to announce our intention,” Otti said.

The News Chronicle reports that the approved projects will focus on areas including market development, power and energy, with some project flag offs expected to begin soon.

Otti said sustained leadership could make Abia globally competitive within the next decade, while NBCC President Abimbola Olashore called for stronger partnerships and clearer policies to unlock more private investment in the state.
