The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to deepening collaboration with state governments to deliver quality and inclusive education across the country.
Speaking at the maiden peer-learning webinar organized by COSCEN, the minister stressed that stronger coordination between federal and state authorities remains critical to addressing Nigeria’s persistent out-of-school children challenge.
He noted that sustainable progress in the education sector can only be achieved through coordinated reforms, shared accountability, and the strategic use of data to guide policy and interventions.
According to him, the Federal Government is prioritizing collaborative frameworks that align national education goals with state-level implementation, ensuring that no child is left behind regardless of location or socio-economic background.
He emphasized that improving access, quality, and retention requires joint planning, transparent monitoring systems, and evidence-based decision-making across all tiers of government.
Dr. Alausa also highlighted the complementary role being played by the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education in expanding educational access and improving school retention, particularly among vulnerable and marginalized children.
He said the commission’s programs continue to support national efforts aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children through targeted interventions and inclusive education models.
Education stakeholders at the webinar agreed that sustained federal–state synergy, backed by reliable data and measurable outcomes, remains essential to transforming Nigeria’s education landscape and securing long-term gains in human capital development.
