FG Reaffirms Commitment to Reposition Federal Unity Colleges

The Federal Government has reiterated its determination to reposition Nigeria’s 115 Federal Unity Colleges as models of academic excellence, innovation, and national cohesion.

Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, made this known at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Principals of Federal Unity Colleges held in Lagos.

She urged the principals to rededicate themselves to transforming secondary education into a tool for economic empowerment and national development.

According to the Minister, the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes curriculum reform, teacher professionalization, and the integration of digital technology in teaching and learning.

Professor Ahmad reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to supporting teacher certification and capacity building through the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), to ensure high teaching standards across all Unity Colleges.

During the meeting, outstanding Federal Unity Colleges were honoured for their exceptional performance in national examinations. The Ministry further restated its resolve to strengthen teaching, learning, and digital innovation across the nation’s education system.
