The Federal Government, in partnership with Huawei Technologies Nigeria, has successfully trained 100 senior civil servants in ICT under the “ICT for Change” program.Â
This initiative, aimed at improving digital skills across various government ministries, departments, and agencies, is part of efforts to enhance service delivery and support the government’s agenda for modernization.
During the program’s closing event, awards were presented to 16 outstanding participants.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, represented by Dr. Maurice Mbaeri, highlighted the importance of digital proficiency for civil servants.
He also appreciated Huawei for its consistent support, having trained over 3,000 personnel since the collaboration began.
The SGF called on Huawei to maintain and expand this partnership to cover other crucial sectors of the economy.
He further encouraged other development partners to collaborate with the government in its efforts to improve citizens’ socio-economic welfare.
Stephen Zou, Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies, reiterated the company’s commitment to building ICT capacity within Nigeria’s civil service.
He emphasized that the milestone achieved is just the beginning, as Huawei plans to train more civil servants, ensuring their proficiency in ICT-related tasks to support efficient governance.
The Director of ICT, Francis Wasa, expressed gratitude for the cooperation between the government and Huawei, acknowledging their role in improving the digital skills of civil servants.
He congratulated the awardees for their dedication and performance throughout the training.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Adebayo Adeyemi from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation expressed appreciation for the initiative.
He noted that the knowledge gained would be applied in their duties, improving e-governance and enhancing overall public service efficiency.
