FG, NARTO, Meeting Enters Day 2 As Fuel Scarcity, Hardship Bite Harder

—

Moments after the down-tooling of activities by the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners( NARTO), which resulted to the resurfacing of fuel scarcity in Abuja and other parts of the country, the Federal Government convened a meeting on Monday 19 February, with the Union and other stakeholders to see to the possible suspension of the strike action.

However, the meeting over the suspension of operations by NARTO members over the lifting of petroleum products has ended in deadlock.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Heineken Lokpobiri stated that the engagement with NARTO will continue on (today) Tuesday 20 February as the government would no relent and allow Nigerians to go through more hardship as being experienced.

Lokpobiri said that the Tinubu-led administration is working tirelessly to address the current economic challenges being faced across the country.

Meanwhile, sources say that the NARTO leadership and other stakeholders within the oil and gas sector are billed to hold talks with the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for another meeting later on Monday night to avert the imminent fuel scarcity.

Meantime, Independent marketers had expressed concern over the continued crash of the naira against the United States dollar, as they emphasized that the development could force the non-subsidized pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol to hit N1,500/liter soon.
