The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated principal officers for newly established federal tertiary institutions and the leadership of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s higher education system.

The inauguration ceremony was performed by the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja.

The appointments include leadership for the Federal University of Science and Technology Epe located in Epe and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic Abuja.

Speaking during the event, Alausa said the development reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education, strengthening teacher education, and positioning Nigerian institutions as centres of innovation and research.

He noted that the institutions were strategically established to tackle pressing national and global challenges such as food security, climate change, renewable energy, and technological innovation.

The minister also urged the leadership of the NCCE to strengthen governance across colleges of education and promote high academic standards within Nigeria’s teacher education system.

The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to improving institutional leadership, strengthening governance frameworks, and advancing policies aimed at enhancing the quality and global competitiveness of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
