FG Distributes Palliatives to Persons with Disabilities in the North East

The Federal Government has begun distributing food and cash aid to 2,000 vulnerable people and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the North Eastern region of Nigeria, on Saturday.
This initiative, launched by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, took place in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa explained that the program aims to support at least 500 PWD households in Yobe State and 2,000 households across the North East by providing essential food supplies, bags of rice, and cash assistance to help alleviate the impact of the recent removal of fuel subsidies.
He noted that approximately 2,000 beneficiaries in the Northeast are targeted due to the high number of Persons With Disabilities caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.
The insurgency has significantly increased the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable groups in the region.
Hon. Isa also mentioned that the distribution will continue in other states within the region.
A committee has been set up to ensure the process runs smoothly by working with local communities to identify those in need.
He emphasized that this distribution effort highlights the Tinubu administration’s commitment to promoting social inclusion and reducing food insecurity among Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations, ensuring no one is left behind.
