FCT FA Extends League Registration Deadline

The Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA) has firmly drawn the line in the sand, setting June 19 as the final deadline for clubs wishing to register for the 2025/2026 Division One League in Abuja.

In what appears to be a last-minute breathing space for clubs still scrambling to meet requirements, the association had earlier opened registration on April 8 and initially fixed May 30 as the closing date before extending it to June 19.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by the FCT FA Secretary, Haruna Ilerika, the extension was granted to allow clubs enough room to tie up loose ends, especially their financial commitments.

“This is to give clubs adequate time to complete their payments,” he said.

He further disclosed that registration fees remain pegged at ₦150,000 for Division One clubs and ₦120,000 for Division Two sides, urging teams to toe the line and comply strictly with payment guidelines.

“Clubs are directed to make payments into the FCT FA account and evidence of payment forwarded, clearly indicating the name of their team.

“The Division One League will kick off on June 29, as no further extension will be granted for registration.

“The association warns that any Division One club that fails to meet the registration deadline will be automatically replaced.

“The FCT FA urges all affected clubs to comply with the registration requirements to ensure a smooth commencement of the 2025/2026 league season,” he said.

With the association effectively shutting the door on further extensions, clubs now have no room for procrastination, as failure to act within the stipulated time could see them left out in the cold.

Meanwhile, the FCT football scene is still basking in the glow of the last season, where Sporting Dream FC rose above the pack to clinch the 2024/2025 Division One title after a convincing 2-0 win over Golden Boys FC at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja.

In the Division Two category, One Touch FC turned on the style with a dominant 3-0 victory against FHA FC to lift the championship crown.
