Ex-Arise News Anchor Ikokwu Defects to NDC, Describes Platform as Forward-Looking

A former news anchor with Arise News, Dr. Chiogo Constance Ikokwu, has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in furtherance of her pursuit for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency seat.

Ikoku announced the move in a statement on Tuesday, titled, “A Strategic Realignment for Purposeful Service”.

According to her, the decision came after careful reflection amid shifting alliances and limited time before party primaries.

The statement read, “It was a hard decision, especially given recent realignments in Anambra.

“I had to make a quick and tough decision to join the NDC after finding it to be a stable, forward-looking platform aligned with my vision for meaningful engagement.”

The former Arise News anchor added that key members of the coalition she identifies with have also joined the NDC, making the transition timely.

She stressed that her focus remains on serving her constituency through accountable leadership and people-centered governance.

“My focus remains clear: to reach the destination where I can effectively serve the people. This move is about positioning myself on a platform that offers the right atmosphere and opportunity to translate commitment into tangible service,” she said.
