EPL: Chelsea triumphs, City held, Bournemouth game abandoned

Chelsea returned to winning ways after beating their opponent at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. Chelsea triumphed by a 2-0 full-time score against Chris Wilder’s side Sheffield United, while City were forced to a 2-2 in the stringent contest at the Etihad. It wasn’t a good at the Bournemouth stadium after the tie against Luton Town was abandoned due to a serious injury scene.

After scoring his first 4 goals via the spot kick, Cole Palmer scored his second open-play goal as Chelsea’s opener in the 53rd minute—converting Raheem Sterling’s effort. Nicholas Jackson made Chelsea’s lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute; scoring one of the assist goals so far. It’s his first goal in his last 5 games at the Bridge since the 4-4 draw against City.

Jack Grealish’s 24th and Rico Lewis’s 54th-minute efforts both in the first and second half secured City a comfortable 2-0. The visitors were able to reduce the goal deficit to 2-1 all thanks to Mateta’s brilliant 76 goal. Michael Olise’s equalizer in the added minute grabbed an important away point for the visitors.

Another game that occurred exactly at 4 pm Nigeria time between AFC Bournemouth and Luton Town was abandoned following a serious injury incident that happened in the second half. The game was abandoned at a 1-1 score after it was called off by the centre referee.

The Cityzen dropped to 4th place following another disappointing game. Meanwhile, Chelsea rose to the mid-table with 22 points following the relaxed home victory.
