Emir Sanusi Orders Closure of Kano Hotel, Directs Conversion to School or Hospital

The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, has ordered the immediate closure of Stephrica Guest Palace Hotel located in Kureken Sani, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

The directive was issued through the Kano Emirate Council under the leadership of the Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Matawalle, following complaints submitted by residents of the area over alleged activities at the facility.

According to the Emirate Council, the decision was reached after reviewing petitions presented by members of the Kureken Sani community, who expressed concerns about the operations of the hotel.

The council stated that the closure formed part of efforts aimed at addressing community concerns and maintaining peace and order in the area.

“The decision was taken after careful consideration of complaints from the residents of Kureken Sani,” a source within the Emirate Council said.

As part of the directive, the owner of the hotel was instructed to convert the property into either a school or a hospital in order to serve the broader interests of the community.

The Emirate Council noted that such a conversion would provide long-term benefits to residents, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare delivery.

Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Kureken Sani Community Development Association, Malam Muhammad Sabi’u Yahaya, commended the Emirate Council for what he described as a timely intervention.

He disclosed that the community had earlier raised concerns over alleged suspicious movements involving minors in and out of the facility, prompting the petition to the Emirate.

“We are grateful to the Emirate Council for listening to our complaints and taking appropriate action after due investigation,” Yahaya said.
