Eid Message: Shettima Backs Tinubu Reforms, Urges National Cohesion

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence and collective sacrifice as the country navigates what he described as a critical phase of national renewal under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

This was contained in a statement made available to The News Chronicle by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

In his Eid-el-Kabir 2026 message, Shettima said the lessons of the Islamic festival faith, obedience, sacrifice and compassion, remain crucial to Nigeria’s pursuit of peace, stability and inclusive growth.

Describing Eid-el-Kabir as a season of reflection and compassion, the Vice President called on citizens to support one another and rise above ethnic, religious and political divisions threatening national cohesion.

“This is a period of sober reflection, a season of reaching out to the indigent among us, of building bridges of brotherhood and sisterhood,” he said.

“What binds us together supersedes whatever divides us. As a nation, we must continue to strengthen the spirit of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence for our collective progress and prosperity.”

Shettima warned that national development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of mistrust and division, stressing the need for Nigerians to unite against the country’s shared challenges.

He, however, assured citizens that the Tinubu administration remains focused on tackling insecurity, stabilising the economy, creating jobs and expanding opportunities across the country.

“Our nation is undergoing a process of renewal and transformation aimed at securing a more stable and prosperous future for generations to come. While the reforms may require patience and sacrifice, they are necessary steps toward rebuilding a stronger Nigeria,” he stated.

The Vice President appealed for continued public support for the Federal Government’s reform agenda, insisting that shared sacrifice and unity of purpose are essential to overcoming poverty, insecurity and social dislocation.

He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security nationwide, while commending the sacrifices of the armed forces and security agencies.

“No matter how long the night may seem, dawn will surely come. Nigeria is steadily advancing on the path of peace, recovery and sustainable development,” Shettima said.
