The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a significant step by inviting Nigerian socialite, Bobrisky, and popular content creator, Verydarkman, for questioning.
This follows the order of EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to investigate allegations that Bobrisky bribed some officers of the commission.
The situation began when an audio recording surfaced online. In this recording, Bobrisky, a well-known figure in Nigeria’s entertainment world, claimed that he had to pay a bribe of ₦15 million to resolve a money laundering case brought against him by the EFCC. Bobrisky’s statement suggested that the bribe was paid to some unnamed officers of the anti-corruption agency.
This revelation spread quickly on social media, causing a stir among the public. Following the public outcry, the EFCC’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, immediately ordered an investigation into the claims.
In response to the allegations, the EFCC announced that a special team of investigators has been set up to look into the matter. The commission has invited both Bobrisky (real name Idris Okuneye) and Verydarkman (Martins Vincent Otse), who shared the viral video, to come forward and assist with the investigation.
The EFCC assured the public that the investigation would be carried out thoroughly and transparently, with the outcome made public as soon as the findings are complete.
