One of the APC governorship aspirants in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has stated that having hailed from Edo South, It was his turn to become the next governor of the state.
Iyemu who stated this while speaking on AriseNews Morning Show on Thursday 25 January 2024, revealed that the people of Edo south have not tested power and have been left behind in terms of leadership positions in the state hence the need for them to given a chance in the next governorship race.
He stated that he has all it takes to lead the state going by his track record and level of popularity in the state.
While noted that he would go by the party’s decision on who eventually emerge victorious in the party primaries slated for February 17th, Iyamu said that there was no fundamental rift between him and senator Adams Oshiomole as insinuated by many.
He stated that the imposition of an ‘outsider’ as the preferred candidate by the People’s Democratic Party and the incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki was an idea that negates the principle of having a leader who identifies with residents of the state.
