—

The Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), Bishara Hausa Section, Kano, has secured the release of two inmates, Musa Aminu and Isah Umar, who were convicted for stealing pepper and suya beans.
The inmates, who hail from Ladin Makole and Mariri, were freed from the Wudil Correctional Service after the church paid their fines, on Friday .
Speaking to the newsmen, the Secretary of the ECWA Bishara Hausa Section, Elder Apagu Wabba, explained that the initiative is part of the church’s annual efforts to decongest prisons.
Elder Wabba stated that the church regularly visits correctional centers to pay fines for inmates, regardless of their religion or tribe, as part of its mission to support the government’s efforts in prison reform.
He noted that the two inmates, overwhelmed with gratitude, expressed their heartfelt thanks to the church for its kindness.
According to Elder Wabba, this initiative underscores the transformative power of compassion and second chances.
The ECWA leader urged philanthropists and NGOs to join in creating a more compassionate society by supporting similar rehabilitation efforts.
He emphasized that such acts of kindness can inspire individuals to turn their lives around and contribute positively to society.
In a show of appreciation, Musa Aminu and Isah Umar promised to lead honest lives moving forward.
