The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilised 2,280 personnel to strategic locations across the state’s 16 local government areas ahead of the Easter celebrations.

The move was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ayoola Shola.

Shola explained that the State Commandant, Mr Bala Bodinga, approved the large-scale deployment as part of proactive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order during the festive period.

Bodinga assured residents of heightened security visibility at churches, recreational centres, motor parks, shopping malls, and other sensitive areas to discourage criminal activities.

He further noted that surveillance and routine patrols had been stepped up across both urban and rural communities, with specialised tactical units and rapid response teams positioned to swiftly tackle any security threats.

The commandant also directed officers to remain vigilant and respond decisively to any form of criminality, especially acts targeting public assets and critical infrastructure.

He cautioned individuals with intentions to disrupt the peace during the Easter period to desist, warning that violators would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Bodinga extended his heartfelt Easter greetings to Christians, urging all residents to embrace the season’s values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence.

He also appealed to citizens to collaborate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free and peaceful celebration across the state.
