A young man identified as Musa has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly killing his mother, Nana, during a dispute over a N40 million inheritance in Abuja.
According to reports obtained by The News Chronicle, the incident occurred on Monday night after the suspect demanded access to the funds, claiming he needed the money to travel to Canada for business purposes. His mother reportedly refused, expressing concerns that he might misuse the money.
Sources said the disagreement escalated into violence, during which Musa allegedly attacked his mother with a weapon, resulting in her death.
In a shocking twist, the suspect was said to have remained in the house with the corpse for several days without informing authorities or relatives.
He was eventually apprehended by DSS operatives after he returned home with takeaway shawarma and was seen driving his late mother’s car, raising suspicion.
The deceased was laid to rest on Thursday following funeral prayers held at the National Mosque in Abuja.
Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the incident, while investigations are ongoing.
