Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested one Musa Abubakar, a suspected major arms dealer linked to armed groups operating in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria. His arrest on November 12, 2025, followed precise intelligence gathered by the agency.
According to a DSS source, Abubakar confessed to manufacturing and supplying high caliber weapons and ammunition to armed groups responsible for violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.
His arrest was the outcome of credible intelligence that led to a targeted raid on his illegal arms-manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
During the operation, DSS operatives reportedly caught him in the act and recovered various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals, and equipment used for weapons production.
This major breakthrough comes shortly after the re-arrest of Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee and mastermind of the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.
The recent successes underscore the DSS’s commitment to combating terrorism and strengthening national security.
It will be recalled that the agency recently arrested nine high-profile suspects involved in attacks in Plateau and Benue States, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA, Plateau State.
Manjol has already pleaded guilty to two of four charges, including illegal possession of firearms, in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
