Delta Students suspend protest after greasing their palms

National Association of Delta State Students – Nadesstu led by the national president Comr Wiska Monday has commended the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the approved payment of the 2023 bursary.

The student group made this known during an interactive meeting with the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board led by the Chairman Comrade Shedrack Agediga and the Executive Secretary Dr. Godfrey Enita which led to the suspension of a proposed protest.

According to Wiska, the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board have demonstrated undisputed love for the students by ensuring the welfare of students is taken seriously.

He noted that the proposed protest will no longer hold as announced considering the fact that the State government has always protected the interest of students.

“Today we met with the leadership of Nadesstu National meets with Delta State Bursary And Scholarship Board over the payment of the 2023 Bursary and discuss other schemes that will be of great benefits to Delta State Students

“Today’s meeting has brought forth encouraging news regarding the 2023 bursary payment.

“As a result of the Governor’s intervention, we have confirmed directly from the Bursary Board and modalities for the disbursement of the bursary has been put in place by the board.

“In light of the above, the earlier scheduled peaceful protest has been suspended.

“This decision reflects our confidence in the outcome of today’s meeting and the assurance provided by the state government.

“We wish to use this medium to appreciate our ever listening Governor, Our Father and Role Model; Sheriff F.O Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State for his timely and prompt intervention towards the concerns of Delta State Students.

“As we move forward, we urge all students to remain calm and law abiding as we remain vigilant to ensure the transparent and fair disbursement of Bursary funds to all qualified and deserving students who registered for the 2023 bursary payment.”

The Chairman and the executive secretary of the board Comrade Shedrack Agediga and Dr. Godfrey Enita while seeking for continuous support from the Nadesstu excos, noted that the Governor Oborevwori is not just a youth friendly governor but also interested in youth development which has enabled him in the unprecedented achievements recorded in the past few months.

The student body who applauded the leadership of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, presented an award of excellence to the board.
