As the crescent moon ushers in celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Delta has rolled out a robust security blanket, deploying no fewer than 1,070 operatives across the state to keep the peace during the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
The State Commandant, Chinedu Igbo, made this known in a statement relayed through the command’s spokesman, Anthony Uchenna, on Wednesday.
Like a chess master positioning his pieces, Igbo said personnel have been strategically stationed in key locations to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure from any untoward intrusion.
He charged Area Commanders to tighten the screws on security coordination within their jurisdictions, while Divisional Officers were instructed to rally their men and fan out across recreational hubs where celebrants are expected to gather in droves.
Not leaving anything to chance, the Commandant also called on component Commanders and Special Forces to close ranks with other security agencies, stressing the need for seamless collaboration to preserve peace, protect lives, and shield vital infrastructure throughout the festive period.
In a note of reassurance, Igbo urged residents to celebrate without looking over their shoulders, assuring them that the security net cast across the state is firm and far-reaching.
He said: “The command, in collaboration with other security agencies, will ensure adequate security for lives and property during and after the Eid celebration.
“We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that miscreants and other criminal elements are apprehended and brought to book until a safe Delta is achieved.”
