Davido Submits Oriadé for 2027 Grammys in Four Categories

—

Davido has submitted his sixth studio album, Oriadé, and several songs to the Recording Academy for the 2027 Grammy Awards.

The album went in four categories: Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical), and Best Album Cover. His singles went in separately. “B4 B4,” featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best African Music Performance. “Nakupenda” was nominated for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance. “Le Show,” featuring Ayra Starr and French Montana, entered the Best African Music Performance category. “I Know Who I Be,” with JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay, entered Best Music Video.

These are submissions, not nominations. The Recording Academy will announce nominations on November 16, and the 69th Annual Grammy Awards take place on February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.

So far, Davido has received five Grammy nominations and has not won any. Tems, Ayra Starr and Asake have also submitted work.

Also this week, Femi Kuti said Davido used to wait outside the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos during Felabration, before he became famous. Femi Kuti spoke about the 2026 edition of the festival, which honours his father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. It runs from October 12 to 18 under the theme “Who Are You?” Femi Kuti said that one time, Davido stood at the gate and asked, “Can I come, can I come in?” Davido shared the remarks on his Instagram story and confirmed it.

Oriadé is the biggest release of his year. He released it on July 31, 2026, exactly 15 years after he began his professional music career. The 13 tracks make it the shortest of his studio albums, and the guests include Black Sherif, Leon Thomas, Aya Nakamura, and Mayorkun. Davido said it is “the most explorative I’ve ever been on a record.” He told Billboard the project follows a long belief in his career: “I just knew music was my destiny.”

He performed the album live for the first time at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London on August 11, then played the sold-out Davido & Friends Festival in London on August 14. Nigerian press reports that the album has earned a UK Silver certification.

The album follows a busy first half of the year. Davido finished the 42-date 5IVE ALIVE Tour, which covered 12 countries on four continents, and made his Coachella debut.
