Davido and Amaju Pinnick reach out of court settlement after long drama

Amaju Pinnick and David Adeleke

Renowned Nigerian music sensation, David Adedeji Adeleke, famously known as Davido, has reached a resolution to settle the breach of contract lawsuit brought against him by the former President of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick-led Brownhill Investment Company Limited. This settlement was agreed upon at the High Court of Delta State, Effurun.

Davido has opted to resolve the dispute outside the courtroom.

As part of the agreement reached in the N2 billion lawsuit filed against him, Davido has also consented to pay N30 million to the claimant. This payment will serve as a partial contribution to the claimant’s outstanding legal fees within seven days of the execution of the settlement terms.

Previously, the claimant, represented by lawyer Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, had sought N2 billion as general damages from Davido. Additionally, the claimant had requested N150 million for legal and professional fees, along with an extra N30 million to cover the cost of filing the suit.

The defendants in this lawsuit were identified as David Adeleke, alias “Davido,” and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited.

Following extensive discussions and negotiations aimed at resolving the matter amicably, both parties have agreed to perform at the “Warri Again Concert” edition scheduled for October 4, 2024. In the consent judgment, it was further agreed that the sum of $94,500, which the claimant had already paid to the defendants, would be considered for the performance at the event.
